YouTube Outlines Plans to Bring Live-Stream Shopping to All the Users!
When the pandemic hit the entire world, no one knew that everything would go digital. While people used social media platforms to stay connected with their loved ones, brands & creators used it as an opportunity to emotionally connect with their audience.
That’s not it! Studies, games, and even shopping turned online. Talking about shopping specifically, amidst the pandemic, people became more aware of the importance of online shopping. Even the online market saw exponential growth for shoppers.
Well, 63% of shoppers shop online because they can browse and choose products as per their choice and latest trends. Furthermore, we even saw how brands and social media platforms tapped into the opportunity to improve the online shopping experience for the users.
Social media platforms have already topped the shopping space by introducing live-stream shopping features for their users. We even saw brands like Myntra testing a similar feature in their app to make shopping fun for their customers.
The competition is getting tough, and YouTube has decided to join the space by announcing that it will be hosting Holiday Stream and Shop, a week-long live streaming event.
Yes, you read that right!
This shopping live stream is going to be in collaboration with creators like The Merrell Twins, Gordon Ramsay, Manny MUA, Patrick Starrr, and many more to host shoppable live streams.
In an interview, YouTube said, ”We want to bring you closer to your favorite creators and make these live streams interactive between creators and fans. Creators can offer their audience live product drops, exclusive discounts, and even poll fans during their shopping live streams to interact with and get feedback from them.”
Through this, they aim to bring the audience closer to their favorite influencers and creators.
YouTube is definitely planning to build shoppable live streams in a more interactive capacity and shape its audiences’ buying experience.
How would this help? Umm., it will surely create FOMO in the minds of shoppers and the ones who trust the recommendations of influencers. Moreover, it will even help build a larger community because people will not wish to miss out on their favorite products.
Knowing that their favorite creators are going to be live, the audience would be willing to be a part of the event.
Moving on, YouTube is even aiming to enable every user with a mobile phone, and a product to easily host a live shopping stream in the future. Its long-term goals have surely wooed everyone.
No, it doesn’t end here. Wendy Yang and Lax Poojary, product developers working on YouTube Shopping, say they hope to advance the platform’s live stream commerce efforts.
Also, the rise of e-commerce and digital shopping is only going to open the door of opportunity. It will facilitate an increase in online shopping not only in the holiday season but the whole year.
Doesn’t this sound amazing?
To bring more light to YouTube’s plan, it even ran a study in partnership with Publicis and TalkShoppe. What was the outcome? 89% of viewers agree that YouTube creators give recommendations they can trust. 87% of people say that they get the highest quality information about products on YouTube.
Oops, the audience has already placed their trust in YouTube creators. So, it seems that this live streaming event is going to be a big shot for YouTube as it plans to bring an in-store experience to video.
